Yosemite, CA — A Yosemite National Park employee has the distinguished honor of being the Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) one-millionth rider to the Park.
Indian Cultural Demonstrator employee Julia Parker has been working in the Park for over 40 years. She has taken the bus to work from Midpines since the program got rolling in 2000. Parker will be presented with a certificate and a keepsake photograph to commemorate this occasion.
Ranger Scott Gediman says, “One of our long-term goals is to greatly reduce the number of private automobiles into the park. YARTS is great for that. It’s convenient, easy and really catching on. We’ve been real supportive since the beginning and are thrilled they’ve had one million riders.”
YARTS buses provide service to gateway communities along Highway 140 and 120 in Mariposa, Merced, Mono, and Tuolumne Counties to the Park. Click here for more details on the buses.
