Hunting Season Open

Sonora, CA — Hunting Season kicked off today and there are some area restrictions due to the Rim Fire on the Stanislaus National Forest.

Spokesperson Rebecca Garcia says, “Although hunters may have a tag for a certain area, if that area is inside the Rim Fire closure area, it’s still not allowed to go in there.”

Forest officials also want to stress to visitors to stay out of the burn areas and take safety precautions.

“Hunting Season does require a little more safety precautions and that all visitors should consider wearing bright color clothing when coming to the forest.”

The Rim Fire Closure Order remains in effect until Nov. 18, at which time it can be extended or modified.
