Rajan: CEQA Can Be Improved

Sonora, CA — It was one of the many topics the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development Director spoke about while visiting Sonora.

Kish Rajan was the guest speaker at the Tuolumne County Business Council’s Executive Speaker Series luncheon held at the Black Oak Casino Resort this afternoon. Rajan spoke about efforts to keep businesses in the state, and competitive advantageous that California has at its disposal. He also spoke about new tax incentives the state is offering for research and development, and the importance of rural areas connecting with some of the larger regions that have more prospering economies.

One of the main topics during the question and answer session that followed was in regards to the California Environmental Quality Act, and it being improperly used to simply stop projects. Rajan agreed that CEQA had gotten away from its original intent, and that discussions on the topic were ongoing in Sacramento.

Rajan will speak about this and many other topics on the 30-minute Mother Lode Views program this weekend.
