Cedar Ridge Man Faces List Of Charges

Sonora, CA — There was a report of a disturbance and gunshots fired from a Cedar Ridge home, and the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office arrived and arrested a man on several charges.

The incident was in the 16000 block of Estralita Drive. When deputies got on scene, they repeatedly called for 45-year-old David Walter to exit the home, but he refused their commands. Eventually he came onto the porch area of the home and was tased by a Sheriff’s Sergeant.

The Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation and learned that Walter, and two other people, a male and a female, had been drinking in the home. Walter allegedly punched the male at one point, so he decided to go back to his home down the street. The female then stated that Walter touched her inappropriately, pointed out that he had a firearm, and attempted to rape her. Walter then allegedly attempted to hit the woman, but she was able to flee from the home. Walter then shot a gun inside the home, after she had left, and at least one of his windows was shattered.

Walter was arrested and booked on charges of attempted rape, resisting arrest, battery, threats, false imprisonment and negligent discharge of a firearm.
