Fatal Mariposa Plane Crash

Mariposa, CA — The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a fatal plane crash in Mariposa County.

It occurred this past Friday about three miles northwest of the Mariposa-Yosemite Airport. A CHP helicopter was dispatched to help locate the wreckage, and was used to direct Mariposa County Sheriff’s personnel to the crash site. The pilot of the crashed plane, an unidentified man, was hoisted from the area by the helicopter. His name has not been released. He was the only person inside.

A CHP report refers to the plane as an “experimental airplane.” The crash happened at 11am. No further information is immediately available.
