Contract Awarded For Mono Way

Sonora, CA — The Mono Way widening project can now move forward.

The Sonora City Council voted last night to award a contract to George Reed Incorporated. The company’s base bid was $3.93 million. However, the City will reduce the price by $222K by allowing an open cut culvert in lieu of boring and jacking. While the move will save money, it will also result in more extensive traffic delays during construction.

The project will widen Mono Way from Greenley Road to Fir Drive. Work is expected to begin later this month and be completed by this coming Fall. The City is the lead agency on the project, but most of the funding is coming from Tuolumne County through Traffic Impact Mitigation Fees paid by developers.
