Population Decline In Mother Lode

Sonora, CA — New census figures released this morning show that both Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties lost population base over the past year.

The U.S. Census Bureau reports that Tuolumne County’s population as of July 1st of 2013 was 53,874, a decline of 176 residents from the same time a year ago.

In July of 2013, Calaveras County’s population was 44,515, down 216 residents from the year prior.

The State of California’s overall population increased by over 300,000 during that same timeframe to 38,332,521.
