Truck Driver Cited In Bus Accident

Calaveras County, CA — The CHP has released new information about the investigation into last Tuesday’s accident on Highway 12 involving a school bus and tanker truck.

The two vehicles collided, and Highway 12 was closed for an hour and 15 minutes. CHP Officer Rebecca Myers says, “The investigating Officer has reviewed the surveillance video from the school bus and determined that the school bus driver was completely within her lane when the driver of the tanker truck struck the school bus. It is unknown at this time why the driver of the tanker truck was over the double yellow lines. We have asked the truck company for a copy of their truck video but have yet to receive the video as requested.”

Officer Myers notes that the driver of the truck, 55-year-old Timothy Lupkes of Rancho Cordova, has been given a traffic ticket related to driving over solid double yellow lines.

The CHP earlier reported that the bus driver, 48-year-old Siobnhan Fisher of Mokelumne Hill, sustained minor injuries in the accident. Lupkes was not hurt.
