DSA Sides With Challenger

San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff’s Association is backing the challenger in the race for Sheriff.

The DSA represents 48 members of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, and has voted to support Pat Garrahan in the race for Sheriff, instead of the incumbent Gary Kuntz. The two men are the only candidates that filed for the race.

Kuntz was elected Sheriff in 2010 following the retirement of Dennis Downum. Kuntz defeated Ed Ballard in that election, who Sheriff Downum had endorsed. In its press release, the DSA notes that Garrahan is a Marine Corps veteran and a retired Police Lieutenant.
