Mountain Ranch, CA — The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death in Mountain Ranch.
Deputies responded last week to the 18000 block of Shadow Pine Lane because blood was found inside a trailer. The home belongs to 63-year-old Gary Maines. The reporting party could not locate Maines, so Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and searched the property.
Partially decomposed human remains were found 150 yards from the trailer. At this time, the identity of the deceased has not been identified. An initial autopsy found that there were no signs of foul play. The Sheriff’s Office reports that the remains will be analyzed further to positively determine the identity. An investigation is ongoing.
