108 Bypass Will Open Early

Sonora, CA — It is now official. Caltrans will hold a ribbon cutting for the Highway 108 Bypass extension on November 1st.  Dignitaries will be on hand for the 1 pm ribbon cutting that afternoon near the construction site. Construction was initially planned to be completed by Mid-2014, but favorable weather will allow crews to finish well ahead of schedule.

“It’s about eight months ahead of schedule. The two major factors for completing early were weather and crew efficiency. We were lucky we didn’t have a really wet winter so that kept construction moving. Also Caltrans’ oversight on the project, making sure it’s done correctly and not having to redo things,” says Angela Daprato Caltrans Spokesperson.

The $54 million project will extend the Highway 108 Bypass from Peaceful Oak Road to Via Este.
