Special Supervisors Meeting

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors will meet this morning to talk about jail funding, and hold a couple of closed sessions.

The Supervisors will vote whether formally to request SB 1022 grant money for a new jail. The maximum grant the county could receive is $20 million, which would still leave the county needing $15.8 million to construct the project. Last week the Board voted to submit the grant, but an outside group helping with the county’s application recommended the Board make slight changes in some of the wording and terminology.

The Supervisors will also break into closed session to discuss the lawsuit filed by Tuolumne County Citizens for Responsible Growth related to the Columbia apartment project. In addition, the Board will hold a closed session related to ongoing labor negotiations. Today’s meeting begins at 8am in the Supervisors meeting room.
