Name Released In Fatal Burson Shooting

Burson, CA — Police have released the name of one of the victims in a deadly shooting in Burson. Calaveras County Sheriff’s official say 20-year-old Britney McGhee was critically wounded by a gunshot in the shooting. Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home on the 57-hundred block of Amos Lane in Burson at 10:15 last night. Sgt. Chris Hewitt says McGhee suffering from a gunshot wound called police to the murder scene. Deputies found a 52 year old male dead at the home. Deputies arrested 56-year-old Charity Ford for the murder and attempted murder.

Sgt. Hewitt says, “The dead man is the husband of the suspect and also the step-grandfather of the 20-year-old woman. All three lived at the home.”

The baby boy in the home at the time of the shooting is McGee’s baby. He was not injured. Hewitt says they are still trying to determine the motive behind the deadly shooting. The name of the man is not being released pending notification of his family.
