Sonora, CA — It is a mixed bag when it comes to what is open and closed on Columbus Day.
Columbus Day is a federally recognized holiday, but not a State of California holiday. There is no mail delivery today and most federal offices are closed (many were already closed due to the shutdown). Most banks are also closed.
State offices such as the DMV are open. Tuolumne County government offices are open, but Sonora City Hall is closed. Schools across the state are open and running.
If you are heading to a government office today, to be safe, you may want to call ahead to make sure it is not closed.
