Mountain Ranch, CA — Calaveras County Coroner reveals the two victims in Wednesday’s house fire were mother and son. 86-year-old Barbara Grizzel and 66-year-old Harry Hanssen died in the blaze. It happened just before 1am Wednesday on the 8000 block of Mountain Meadows Drive in Mountain Ranch. The home was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived on the scene.

Firefighters attempted to rescue Grizzel and Hanssen, but they were unable to locate them due to the heavy smoke and intense flames. The fire did spread to a small patch of vegetation but crews were able to put it out quickly. There is no word on what sparked the blaze.
