Update: Second Round Of Snow Forecast For The Sierra Nevada

A winter storm continues to move through the region today.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada above 4,500 feet, now through 4 AM Monday.

The snow levels begin around the 4,500 foot elevation. Locally lower snow levels will be possible during heavier snow showers.

Significant snowfall is forecast over the higher elevation, especially this morning through the afternoon.

Additional snow accumulations above 6,500 feet will range from five to twenty-two inches.

Winds could gust as high as thirty-five mph.

If traveling into the mountains be prepared for difficult, hazardous travel condition and travel delays. Plan on slippery road conditions. Slow down and use caution while traveling. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times. Carry chains, extra warm clothing and food.

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means there will be snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Travel is not recommended while the warning is in effect. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
