There have been six California traffic deaths reported during the first one-and-one-half days of the New Year´s holiday period.
The California Highway Patrol said the death toll is one fewer than the seven killed in the first 36 hours of the holiday period a year ago.
The CHP said the count of drunken driving arrests also is below a year ago, with 661 DUI arrests from 6 pm Friday to 6 am today, 21 fewer than the same period a year ago.
