Sonora School District Hoping To Give Teachers A Raise

The Sonora Union High School District Board of Trustees may ratify a 4.2 percent pay increase for teachers at their meeting Tuesday night. But because of looming budget cuts from Governor Davis, it might not be a done deal. District Superintendent Robert Gaskill. The governor has proposed slashing 843 million dollars from the California education budget because of growing deficits in the state coffers.
