Counties Want Recognition For Part Of Highway 4

Calaveras and Alpine county officials want a stretch of Highway 4 to be designated as a National Scenic Byway. The federal program could provide grants to promote and preserve scenic, historical, cultural and archaeological features.

The portion of the road from Arnold to Markleeville already has the state´s scenic stamp of approval.
