Fires Damage, Destroy Mobile Homes

California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Chief Richard Imlach says quick response by a neighbor in the 49er RV Ranch in Columbia – who saw smoke and called firefighters – helped keep fire damage in a single-wide mobile home there from being a lot worse.

Tuolumne County fire officials say damage to the mobile home and contents is about $15,000. A faulty water heater is being blamed for the blaze. No one was home at the time.

Owner of a mobile home in the Diamond XX subdivision west of Copperopolis isn´t so lucky today.

Calaveras County firefighters say the home on the 5000 block of Chuckwagon Drive was completely destroyed by flames just after noon today. That blaze still under investigation.
