Supervisors Approve Tuolumne Library Plans

The Board of supervisors today approved the design of a new Tuolumne Township Library and Youth Center, and challenged that community to raise a $110,000 to help pay for it.

The extra money is needed to pay for an expanded design of the 4,000-square-foot building, which will combine a library with a youth activities center. The full price tag is $750,000.

Supervisor Mark Thornton told Tuolumne area residents that folks in Groveland spent 15 years raising more than $600,000 to pay for their library. He supported the expanded project only after Tuolumne community leaders pledged to try to come up with the difference.
