Reward Offered In Shooting Of Police Officer

The Oakland Police Fund and another organization have put up a combined six-thousand-dollars reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man who shot a police officer in the head Friday. Oakland police officer Ilario Juarez was recovering yesterday from a volley of gunshots that hit his head but just missed his brain.

Authorities say Juarez was conducting a routine foot-patrol stop in an area known for drug dealing and prostitution when the man he sought to question allegedly turned around and started firing. The reward was being offered by the police fund, which put up 5 thousand dollars, with an additional one thousand dollars offered by Crime Stoppers in Oakland.
