Fire Trucks Pulled After Wreck

A safety probe has prompted the California Department of Forestry to sideline ten new fire engines similar to one that crashed Sunday carrying three Calaveras Firefighters to a blaze in San Bernardino County. CDF Chief of Fire Protection Jim Wright pulled the engines from service because of initial reports of a drive shaft malfunction blamed for the accident. The engine tumbled off a freeway embankment and fell 60 feet into a ravine.
