Supervisors Told Not To Cut Tourism Bucks

Tourism boosters filled the Tuolumne county Supervisors´ chambers yesterday, to respond to a proposed cap on promotional dollars for the Visitors Bureau. The administration has recommended a cap on the amount of room tax revenue that can be used for that purpose. David Duval of the Visitors Bureau Board says it would be a mistake to short-change what has become a major business in the Mother Lode. Supervisors agree tourism is important, but note they´ll be struggling with a dwindling budget, thanks to the huge State deficit this year.
