State Gets Out Of Oracle Contract

California is canceling its $95 million computer contract with Oracle Corp. State officials made the announcement Tuesday in Sacramento. The cancellation means the state is relieved of further financial obligations, including interest and fees.

The long-term contract with Oracle was signed last year. It was supposed to save the state more than $100 million dollars. But the state auditor said it could have cost up to $41 million dollars more than if the state had kept its previous software supply arrangements.
