“Super-Strain” Of HIV Raises New Fears

A five-year AIDS study from the University of California, San Francisco reports a large increase in mutant, drug-resistant strains of HIV infection. The study among new patients in the Bay Area shows about one-in-eight cases are mutant versions of HIV, more difficult to treat. Five years ago the mutant strains were one in 40 cases.
