Calaveras County deputies arrested a 19 year old Stockton man for possesion of a stolen vehicle Wednesday after the man and four other suspects attempted to drive away after a routine traffic stop around 10:30 p.m. on Highway 12 in Valley Springs. The suspects drove away in the stolen Toyota sedan after officers attempted to approach the vehicle. The suspects drove for a mile, then pulled over and four of the passengers stepped out of the car, where they were held by deputies. The lone driver then drove away again. An eighth of a mile later, the suspect stopped the car and escaped the scene on foot. He is still loose. Deputies booked Felipe Ortega. The other three suspects were juveniles.
