Davis Calling For Budget Cuts

Governor Gray Davis has signed a bill to cut more than two billion dollars from this fiscal year´s budget. Davis and lawmakers have another ernor ten billion dollars of

deficit spending to contend with in the months ahead.

The 103 billion dollar spending plan Davis signed in July included 42 million dollars earmarked for local park projects, and an additional 30 million dollars for museums, community centers and other projects sought by lawmakers. About half of the money for those projects may now be returned to the state general fund.
