Governor Gray Davis has opened up a 14-point lead over Republican Bill Simon in a new statewide poll. A Field Poll released yesterday indicates a shift from just two months ago, when Simon held a slight lead over Davis shortly before the March fifth Republican primary.
43% of voters surveyed said they would vote to re-elect Davis if the election were held today. 29% said they would vote for Simon. The two will face off at the polls on November 5th.
