Wildfires Continue To Burn In State

Steep, treacherous terrain is making it difficult for firefighters batting a 600 acre wildfire in Northern California near the Oregon border.

Fire officials say the blaze in rural Siskiyou County started Sunday afternoon when a back-yard debris fire got out of control. The few homes in the area are not immediately threatened and no evacuations have been ordered.

A little farther south in Yuba County, an 11,000 acre wildfire has been contained. No homes were damaged and no injuries are reported.

In Richmond, a grass fire in a residential area singed the tiles on two roofs this afternoon, but fire officials say it was quickly put out.

A blaze that scorched more than 23,000 acres in the Angeles National Forest in Southern California is now 90 percent contained.
