Fire units made quick work of a brush fire on Columbia Way near Dane Lane around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
The fire at one point was a threat to a residence in the area. A helicopter and air tanker from Columbia Air Attack base also responded to the fire just north of Sonora.
The fire was contained about 15 minutes later to less than a 50-by-50-foot spot, according to fire spokeswoman Kary Hubbard.
