Workers Comp Bill Clears Committee

A special legislative committee has approved legislation to rein in the skyrocketing cost of treating workers´ job-related injuries.

Senator Richard Alarcon of Van Nuys says the package of bills would generate about $5 billion in one-time savings and about $4 billion in ongoing annual savings for employers.

The legislation includes fee limits for outpatient surgery centers, utilization controls and cuts in vocational rehabiliation programs and physician fees.
