Valentine’s Day A Love/Hate Holiday

Tomorrow is Valentine´s Day – but some people are hoping Cupid just keeps his arrows to himself. For many singles, it´s the holiday they love to hate.

And they´re fighting back. Several taverns in Chicago will be hosting anti-Valentine´s Day parties — complete with black balloons. Anti-Valentine´s Day cards are also making their appearance in stores and on the Internet.

One card says, “Out of all my wives — you´re the best.”

A pro-celibacy activist says the holiday is just about money. The holiday isn´t popular in some spots overseas, either.

In Iran, police this week ordered shops to remove heart-themed decorations from their windows. And in India, Hindu nationalists burned Valentine´s Day cards because they consider it a corrupt Western holiday.
