The Bureau of Automotive Repair has suspended its practice of making violations against auto mechanics public.
The decision comes after Beverly Hills-based Trevor Law Group used the information to file thousands of lawsuits against auto repair shops. After being sued twice by Trevor Law Group, a southern California auto body repair company challenged the bureau´s public disclosure practice.
The lawsuit filed by Caliber Collision Centers claims the practice is illegal because the repair shops aren´t given a chance to contest the violation notices.
