An infantry scout assigned to the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms has been reported killed in an accident involving his own weapon in Iraq.
The Defense Department says the Marine´s weapon accidentally fired while he was sleeping and he was struck in the chest. Killed on Wednesday was 19-year-old Marine Private 1st Class Christian D. Gurtner of Ohio City, Ohio.
