Residents of a Modesto neighborhood heard gun shots just before 5 a.m. yesterday morning and found a man shot, bleeding and lying in an Algen Avenue parking lot. They called 911 but paramedics were unable to save 37-year-old Richard Lopez. He was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.
Modesto police detectives are asking for anyone with information on the shooting to contact them. Police have no suspects at this time.
