Fire Blackens 600 Acres So Far

U.S. Forest Service spokesman Pat Kaunert said last night the fire in the Stanislaus National Forest 12 miles east of Groveland had blackened more than 600 acres and is moving northeast towards Highway 120.

It´s about 20 percent contained, but authorities don´t know when they will they will have the fire completely contained.

A separate fire is burning outside of Mariposa, about 50 miles

south of the Tuolumne Fire. Authorities ordered the evacuation of about 50 homes last night, but so far NO homes or buildings have been lost.
