Red Flag Warning Continues Through Today

Sure the temperatures are cooling off, but that doesn´t mean the fire danger has gone away.

The National Weather Service has issued warnings that continued strong wind and low humidity are in the forecast, which means a Red Flag Warning for High Fire Danger.

The warning remains in effect at least through noon today.

The red flag zone reaches from the west slope of the Sierra Nevada from the Stanislaus National forest north to the Lassen National Forest… as well as the adjacent foothills, including all Cali Dept of For and Fire Prot units.

A similar warning for the San Joauiqn vallley expired yesterday.

Also, the CDF says it´s conducting a training burn tomorrow in cooperation with local property owner Lyle Turpin.

It´s happening off Highway 132 in the Coulterville area.

CDF officials say they plan to burn just under 50 acres, starting around 2:30 tomorrow afternoon, weather permitting.

The goal of the project is to train firefighting personnel in wildland fire behavior, as well as proper ignition techniques and procedures.

They say smoke and other impacts may result from the burn.
