Senior Program Has Big Donation Day

Thanks to some impromptu work from Sonora´s morning radio teams, over five thousand dollars was raised that will eventually help programs that benefit senior citizens in need.

The “Keep Our Seniors Happy” Campaign netted $5100 Friday.

The BJ & Lisa Morning Show on Today´s Country 93.5 KKBN started the morning by auctioning off a Twinkie-stuffed Pez dispenser. The item finally sold for $1500.

Then, not to be outdone, the Star 92.7 Morning Show auctioned off a performance by personality Maryann Curmi.

The prize will consist of a personal appearance, and a performance of the “Shoop” song, also known as “It´s In His Kiss”.

$3500 was donated by generous contributors for the prize.

In addition, from noon until 2pm again today, Black Oak Casino was offering spins of their prize wheel in exchange for donations at Central California Bank at the Junction Shopping Center.

Carol Krawchuk from Central California Bank said the final tally of donations probably wouldn´t be ready until Monday morning.

The proceeds will help to establish a Senior Fair next year, which in turn will help to fund Meals on Wheels, Firewood for Seniors, and help provide transportation to medical appointments.

The event runs from noon to 2 today, at Central California Bank at The Junction.
