Five people, including one from Sonora, were arrested Tuesday on charges ranging from possession of stolen property to possession and sale of methamphetamine.
Early Tuesday morning, Calaveras County Sheriff´s deputies served several warrants as part of a property investigation. 33-year-old Cindy Marie Davis of Sonora allegedly gave officers a false name and then fled the scene. She was picked up about 4 hours later.
Four other suspects from Copperopolis were arrested on a variety of charges. Eric Richard Smith is charged with possession and sale of meth. Gary Lee was arrested for occupying a condemned residence. Jeremiah Magruder and Alan Seider were arrested for conspiracy and possession of stolen property including stolen checks. Magruder was also arrested on similar charges a few weeks ago.
Officials say the arrests indicate stolen check scams are still active in the area.
