Fire Destroys Shed

Fire in Jamestown this morning.

Tuolumne County area firefighters are at the scene of a fire in a shed on 6th avenue in Jamestown, between 8th and 9th, near Railtown.

County Fire Marshal Kari Hubbard says the fire was not in a home but was burning very close to a mobile home and a house. Hubbard credits quick work by firefighters for keeping the blaze contained and not spreading to the other structures.

The blaze was first reported just before 8 a.m. this morning. Smoke from the blaze could be seen from as far away as Sonora.

Hubbard said the 10 x 20 shed was used for storage. No damage estimate has been given yet, but Christmas decorations and exercise equipment was destroyed.

There were no injuries.
