Calaveras County Students To Become ‘Ag-Aware’

Thursday is Ag Awareness Day in Calaveras County.

“It´s a wonderful awareness activity for fourth and fifth graders. They have a better understanding of the things they use and what these mean to them,” said Ginger Anthony, a TuCare consultant who´s participating in the program.

Anthony says when kids get to experience agriculture firsthand, it makes a bigger impression.

“If those fifteen-minute presentations had been made in the classroom, they´d be effective, but they´re much more effective in a different environment that kids are alert and excited about, being outside of the classroom.”

The program is sponsored by the Calaveras County Farm Bureau.
