US 395 Reopened Following Fire Closure

U-S 395 has reopened less than 24 hours after a lightning-sparked fire triggered a wildland fire that has consumed some 900 acres north of Coleville, near the Sonora Pass.

The fast moving fire broke out behind a Marine Corps housing unit, which was evacuated.

Lower temperatures and higher humidity have helped crews surround 30 percent of the flames.

The blaze erupted near where about 400 firefighters were battling a 21-hundred-acre wildfire touched off by lightning Friday.

That fire is 45 percent contained.

Some 470 firefighters are on the lines today, aided by nine helicopters and five single-engine air tankers.

An evacuation order was lifted for residents in Coleville.
