Pinecrest Cabin Burns

An early morning fire at a cabin in the Pinecrest area did $100,000 damage to the 75 year-old family vacation home and its contents.

Firefighters arrived on the 170 block of Cliff Lane just after 1:30 a.m. to find the cabin in flames.

Craig Hart with Tuolumne County Fire says cabin owner Dona Noe has been on vacation from Arizona and decided to have a fire in the fireplace last night. Hart says she later noticed a strong smell of smoke. She looked outside to find the exterior of the cabin on fire.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames but unfortunately the family´s Cocker Spaniel – named Brandy – died in the blaze. Hart said firefighters tried to resuscitate the dog but we unable revive the pet. Hart says Noe escaped without injury. The exact cause if the blaze is under investigation.
