Forest Service Announces Seasonal Road Closures

Sonora, CA — The National Forest Service has announced that some specific federal forest roads will be subject to seasonal closure effective December 5th.

The decision was prompted by anticipated wet conditions as winter approaches. Forest officials say vehicle traffic will not be allowed until drier conditions return.

The move is typical for this time of year as the firewood gathering season closes. Forest officials say the closures are necessary for public safety as well as resource protection.

Specific roads may be closed prior to December 5th if there is a heavy snowfall, or may be left open if fair weather continues.

Specific road closure information can be found at the Stanislaus National Forest website.
