Victory Sends Wildcats To The Playoffs

Sonora, CA — The Sonora Wildcats are on their way to post-season play after a 23-21 victory in front of more than 7,000 fans last night at Dunlavy Field.

The win eliminated the arch-rival Oakdale squad from the playoffs for the first time in four seasons.

Senior Scott Schoettgen put all of Sonora´s points on the board, kicking three field goals, scoring two touchdown passes and posting 219 reception yards, despite battling a 104 degree fever.

The game also featured a Veterans Day ceremony which included a moment of silence to honor fallen veterans and a rendition of “Taps” by the Golden Regiment band.

Round one of the playoffs will be back at Dunlavy next Friday night. The Wildcats won the top seed in post-season play by a coin toss.

The Summerville Bears also ended their season last night, but on a down note, suffering a 33-26 loss in their final game against the Linden Lions at Thorsted Field.
