Garden Takes Shape

San Andreas, CA — Students from Angels Creek High School are hard at work on their portion of the Calaveras County Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at the Government Center in San Andreas.

The students come out every other week to tend to their newly planted winter vegetable garden.

Once complete, the entire garden will serve as a classroom of sorts for master gardeners to educate the public on backyard gardening.

For the students the garden is also a place to perform their community service. So far, they have planted broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce and chard.

In the coming months, the master gardeners will start a mission-style garden and plant fruit trees in the orchard area.
