Sonora Sawmill Resumes Full Operating Schedule

Redding, CA — Sierra Pacific Industries has good news for the local economy.

Officials say the company resumed full 80-hour per week operations at its Sonora mill this week.

The mill had been on a 60-hour schedule since the National Forests reduced timber sales earlier this year.

S.P.I. spokesman Ed Bond says the resumption of the full schedule is due to the El Dorado National Forest´s harvest of timber that was burned in the Power Fire in Amador County last year.

About 20 employees have been hired or called back to work two full shifts in the sawmill and planer operations.

Meanwhile, Sierra Pacific´s other Tuolumne County mill in Chinese Camp remains on a 60 hour schedule.
