Feinstein Warns Oil Companies To Show Restraint

Sacramento, CA — Senator Dianne Feinstein is warning oil companies that if they do not show voluntary gas price restraint, congress might act.

Several West Coast senators are blasting the oil industry for using hurricane Katrina as an excuse for jacking up gasoline prices in California and Oregon.

Officials say Congress may pass new legislation to deal with soaring energy prices. Feinstein wrote the seven biggest oil companies doing business in California urging them to show price restraint, and says she does not believe the industry when it said the market forces were driving prices higher.
