CHP Sends 100 Officers And Equipment To Help Louisiana Police

Sacramento, CA — The California Highway Patrol plans to send equipment and 100 officers to help Louisiana state police respond to Hurricane Katrina.

The CHP is sending the officers and equipment, including three fixed-wing planes and three helicopters equipped with advanced life support and search and rescue capabilities at the request of Louisiana police.

CHP Commissioner Mike Brown says an advance team of several officers has already reached Baton Rouge and more officers are on the way. The group will include a team specially trained in crowd control.
